Preview Image Generator (P.I.G.) Batch!
Win64, EnglishGeneral Usage Instructions
P.I.G. is a beautifully simple app. It's two main functions are as follows:
- In one click, convert your existing library of families to all have beautiful and consistent preview images
- Automatically regenerate preview images when saving families, preventing further issues.
You can literally install the app and immediately enjoy its benefit without needing to perform any customization. However, because most libraries of content are cluttered with families with unrecognizable images, you'll want to clean those up first. The process to convert files works like this:
- Log in to your account - You will need to activate your computer with your account credentials before having access to the features. See next section (Installation / Uninstallation)
- Configure Settings - The default settings should allow for nice preview images, but should you want specific categories to appear differently you can change the settings easily from the settings menu.
- Your settings are automatically synchronized to your account in the cloud. If you have purchased a site license, all users can be easily set up to share the same settings.
- You may choose category specific settings for 3D categories only. 2D categories in Autodesk® Revit®, inherently, have few options for visibility so P.I.G. utilizes default settings for them.
- Batch process the files! You will have several options for choosing your source files. These are:
- Individual families - these can be processed manually by clicking on 'Update Preview' button in the Add-in ribbon. This essentially saves the family to its current location with an updated preview image.
- All currently opened families - these are processed through the 'Batch Process' button in the Add-in ribbon.
- All compatible families in a designated directory - P.I.G. will not process files that are in a later version of Revit, marked as read-only or backup files.
Commands
Installation/Uninstallation
P.I.G. conveniently utilizes a streamlined .msi installer. The installation will register as an installed windows application and can, therefore, be easily uninstalled from within the Add/Remove Programs function of Windows.
When installing, you will be presented with two options: Make available for All Users on the PC or only to the Current User. Regardless, all users will need to activate P.I.G. prior to using.
New accounts can be created directly from within Revit when a feature of P.I.G. is first used. When a new account is created, an email will be sent to the address provided. Users must click the 'confirm email address' link before features of P.I.G. will be available. This will enable the feature set within the 'Free Version'.
Free Versions can be converted to paid 'Batch' versions by making a purchase. If the purchase is made using the email address present on a Free account, that account will automatically be converted to Batch the next time Revit is started.
