Navisworks saved viewpoints is a very popular workflow, so we’re giving you more options with our latest release. You can now transfer comments to issues with the 2 new options offered. If you have a saved viewpoint that has been shared with BIM Track as an issue, you can now update that viewpoint in Navisworks, such as marking up the image, annotating it, adding comments, etc. and re-publish it to BIM Track. Those changes will then be updated in the existing BIM Track issue viewpoint. For more information, please visit our help center article. To get the feature please update your addins here. |
1.35.0 |
it's release time again! BIM Track’s View in model feature might seem like a simple one, but it’s one that will save you an average of 2 minutes per issue opened. We know your workflow efficiency depends on it, so the main focus of this release is to give you more, cross-platform, view in model options to retrieve issue location.
In this release, you gain more control over the view camera and view state and can modify its’ behavior in Revit, Navisworks, Tekla, AutoCAD and the web viewer.
Find what you are looking for immediatelyWe’ve also given you smarter view in model options. Now you can isolate chosen elements and create section boxes around them in an automated fashion. Instead of staying in traditional perspectives, you can choose to view issues in Orthographic mode. All this ensures your teams work efficiently, and with increased clarity. Not sure how these new changes work? Read our help center article to help get you started the right way.And a few usability enhancements for sheet viewing tooWith advanced sheet viewing options, you have more tools at your fingertips to tailor your viewing preferences; for example, being able to filter issues on a sheet so that only issues on that particular sheet are displayed, and many more adjustments. |

With last night’s release, we have introduced a major new feature to make BIM Track task management even easier for individual users: project dashboard. Project dashboard gives you a project-specific look at what affects your issues as an individual user. It will be the first thing you check when you log in, with an activity timeline that shows all activities that are relevant to you. It also includes metrics to quickly how many of your issues are past due and much more. Scroll down to learn more or visit your web platform, click “Dashboard” from your Project menu on the left-hand side, and start exploring. Activity timelineActivity timeline is a user-specific “newsfeed” of various project activities that includes: New issues or any updates to existing issues, with issue numbers hyperlinked to those specific issues in BIM Track’s issue dashboard. Multiple issue updates at the same time will be listed as one entry with just issue number, whereas one issue update will show the issue number and title. The feed also includes new models uploaded/deleted and all users added/removed to the project. The activity timeline is also more than a normal newsfeed, because you can tailor what you see. You can also use the filtering and calendar options at the top to quickly find what happened at any given moment in your issues. You can also collapse days or “show more” to see further back in time. Due issues pie chartsTwo pie charts at the top right show how on track you are with your issues. These are called Your issues and Project issues. Your issues, on the left, indicates which of your issues are overdue and which are on time. You can drill down to those issues as well by clicking on the “piece of the pie” you would like to investigate further. On the right, we see the projects other issues, which shows what issues are overdue and what are on time on the entire project. Users activityUsers activity monitors who from the team has logged in to BIM Track each day. If there is a significant milestone coming up, it is important to make sure team members are working to update and resolve their issues. Users activity automatically shows the last 30 days, but this is customizable. |

We have some exciting new features released with our latest update, particularly for project settings. We're happy to introduce:
Project templatesThere can be a lot of detail saved within a project’s settings. To avoid the tedium of recreating these settings on each new project, you can now export a project’s settings for use on new projects. All issue attributes, including custom options, can be assigned to a project template. Save time and make sure you don’t miss any details by using project templates.Categories as a project settingOn the web viewer, there is already a notion of categories by element type. Users can define the color, visibility & transparency of a category. It is now possible to assign these settings on the entire project. This gives consistent views across teams (helpful for screenshots etc.) and is helpful for comparative visualization. There is still an option for individual users to override these settings on the web viewer, should they need to. Learn how to set up categories as a project setting. If you have any questions on these new features, or any existing ones, please reach out to our support team online or in the chat portion of the BIM Track platform. |

Based off our users’ feedback, we have introduced a new option menu in the addin where it is now possible to change the behavior of the “View in Model’ button. With this update, you will be able customize the button’s behavior depending on your personal revision needs. Additionally, we have released a new addin for Tekla 2017. It is available via our download page on bimtrackapp.co. New Features: - An addin for Tekla 2017 is now available. - It is now possible to filter the issue list and reports based on the issues’ creation dates. - A “Keep me signed in” option was added to the login window of the addin. - Added various options for the “View in Model” button where it is now possible to set automations for that button depending on your revision needs. For instance, section boxes/plane & hidden elements can be automatically restored if desired. It is also possible to configure it in a way that it won’t do anything aside from recovering the camera location. - The “Assigned To” field was improved with a combo box that accepts auto-completion. If you have many team member, instead of scrolling down the dropdown menu, simply type in the first letter of the person and the autocomplete will narrow the results contained in the list. - The BCF import / export was vastly improved. Re-importing issues via BCF will no longer create duplicates, but instead update existing issues with the updated information. While this is a nice improvement for the BCF workflow, there’s a lot more improvement coming up so stay tuned! - Various bug fixes and minor improvements. |

This release aims at vastly improving the 3D viewer’s performance. By introducing new technologies such as progressive rendering and frustum culling, we have pushed the limits of our viewer to an higher level. A variety of changes were also introduced to increase the user experience in general. See below for a full list of changes. New Features: - Progressive rendering was added to the 3D viewer. This should vastly increase the viewer’s performance on complexes models. Please note that it’s possible to increase/decrease the progressive rendering strength in the option menu. When needed, the viewer will hide some elements in the model to allow a smoother navigation on complexes models and these elements will reappear progressively depending on your rendering priorities preferences as soon as the navigation stops. - An option menu was added for the progressive rendering where it’s possible to specify your own rendering order preferences. If you are currently reviewing HVAC issues, moving the HVAC to the top in the rendering priority will ensure that HVAC elements are displayed first. - An option called ‘Frustum culling’ was added to the 3D viewer. This option aims to improve the 3D viewer performance on large scale projects. When enabled, every element that lies outside of the viewing area will not be systematically rendered. - The ‘Fullscsreen’ option within the 3D viewer will now act as a real fullscreen instead of simply collapsing the left hand-side panel. - It is now possible to upload and display multiple models that use different unit systems. - To enlarge the viewing area, the left-hand panel will now collapse automatically upon entering the 3D viewer. - Improved error handling in the 3D viewer. The viewer will also try to recover its previous state when the browser runs out of available resources in an attempt to prevent crashes and a ‘loss of context’ from occurring. - Other small various changes were made to the 3D viewer to improve the user experience in general. - It is now possible to save a section plane with an issue in Navisworks 2017 & 2018. Interoperability for this feature is somewhat limited due to API limitations for Revit and pre-2017 versions of Navisworks. - Images contained in the comments of an issue are now displayed in the report. Improvements: - Fixed an issue where some username would not appear next to their comments in the report. - Fixed an issue where the company name was not properly filled when exporting the user list of a hub to an Excel format. - Fixed an issue where the user’s preferences in regard to the date format and time zone were not taken into account in the hub management page. - Fixed an issue where the notify field would appear empty when editing an issue within the addin. - Fixed an issue that was causing the scrolling bar in the selection tree of the 3D viewer to be super sensitive when it contained a very long list of items. - Fixed an issue that was causing users to be disconnected upon trying to archive an issue. - Vastly improved the performance of the filtering system in the archive. - Fixed an issue where an error would occur if the user would try to post a comment that contained HTML characters. - In the addin, the first and last name of the issue creator will now be displayed instead of the user’s email address. - Time displayed in the reports will now take daylight saving into account when applicable. - The names contained in the ‘Assigned to’ field will now be sorted alphabetically. - Archived comments will no longer appear in the reports. - ‘Due Date’ notifications will no longer be sent for closed issues. - Groups created using the addin will now properly be displayed on the web. - Fixed an issue where the total number of issues in the project would be inaccurate if the project contained merged issues. - Various French localisation fixes. - Small UI and user experience fixes. |
1.8 |
Web New features: - Subscription plans can now be directly updated without having to cancel the previous subscription beforehand. - Hubs can now be deleted by the owner. This option is now available in the Hub management tab under the gear icon at the top right corner of the page. Fixes: - Fixed an issue that was preventing project editors to delete an attachment. - Several localisation issues were addressed in the French version. - Minor bug fixes and improvements. Addin New features: - The section box will now be saved with the issue. To restore a section box that was used during the issue creation, simply right click on an issue, and select ‘Restore view state’. Please note that this feature isn’t supported by Navisworks 2015 & 2016 due to API limitations. However, it is fully interoperable between Revit 2015/2016/2017 & Navisworks 2017 (For further references, please see the interoperability table). - Elements that were selected during the issue creation can now be restored & isolated by right clicking an issue and selecting ‘Isolate Elements’. - Images contained in the comment feed will now be displayed and it's also possible to view the full size image by clicking the thumbnail. Fixes: - The ‘Save View State’ will now be checked by default when publishing new issues as we felt this was a redundant action. Please note that this change only affects ‘Create Issue’ and ‘View to issue’ features. This option must be checked manually when using the ‘Clash to issue’ feature within Navisworks. - Fixed an issue that was causing the addin to be unresponsive in some case when using the ‘View to issue’ feature. - Fixed an issue that was causing Revit to crash when quitting the application in a specific way. - Minor bug fixes and improvements. |
