Windows shortcuts

During installation, several shortcuts are created in the Windows desktop for supporting different Navisworks versions. The program supports Navisworks 2019-2024 versions, even though shortcuts are created by default for newer ones.

Publisher 202x = Standalone windows program with GUI (graphical user interface)

Scheduler 202x = GUI for console program. It is used to add settings for scheduled publishing. 

Using Publisher

Codemill Publisher is a standalone windows program. You can batch publish various CAD files to Navisworks .NWD-files with it.  

Before publishing files, you need to define folders. You can do this by selecting suitable values in the Publishing folders tab

Output Folder        Folder where .NWD files are saved

Watched Folder     Folder which is watched by the program to detect newly created or modified files 

In the Options tab, you can define whether you want or not to delete existing viewpoints and search sets from the published nwd. There is also the possibility to append existing viewpoints and search sets from the separate nwd file.

You also can add several publish attributes to the published file during the process. Attributes are defined in the Publishing attributes PropertyGrid. You can change these attributes at any time. Note that the published file doesn’t open if the expiry date attribute has expired or the password attribute is set and the user doesn’t know the correct password. 

Start publishing process

After defining folders and publishing attributes you can select individual files and folders for publishing with Add File and Add Folder buttons. Selected files are added to the Listbox. After adding files, you can start the publishing process with Publish Files button.

When publishing files program will launch Navisworks and it will remain open.

The program can also auto-detect newly created or modified files within a specific folder. Define the folder to watch by selecting it in the Publishing folders tab 

Start and stop watching

To start watching press the Start watch button. The program will keep publishing newly created or modified files automatically until you stop it by pressing the Stop watch button. Current publishing attributes are added to each file. 

Using Scheduler

The scheduler is a console program that can be started automatically on a scheduled date and time. This can be done by adding a new Scheduled Task to Windows (Control Panel). The console program works only in one way, it processes all suitable CAD files from a specific source folder and publishes them to the output folder.

Scheduler has also an additional interface (GUI) for applying settings and publishing attributes. This interface is loading from a program shortcut. You had to define at least source and output folders for the console program before scheduling it to run.

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin. You may need to restart the Autodesk product to activate the app/plug-in. To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button. OR, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Windows 7/8.1/10/11) and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.
