FBX Export Tools

FBX Export Tools

Win64, English

Autodesk, Inc.
This set of applications allows you to easily create files in .fbx format from your existing Autodesk® Inventor® files (.ipt, .iam). 3ds Max installation is required for successful translation.

General Usage Instructions

1) FBX Batch Tool

Once you install the app then you will find the FBX Batch Tool.exe in your desktop to run.

Select Input Folder:

Navigate to and select your desired folder that contains the Inventor files you would like to generate .fbx files from.

After clicking "Ok" all files will be displayed in the Listview within the Interface.

Optionally repeat the process with other folders you would like to process.

Select Output Folder:

Navigate to and select your desired Output folder where the generated files will be saved. By default, this is set to your Temp directory.

Note: By default, without selecting an output folder, the files get saved to the %temp% directory.

Number of Threads:

Minimum: 2

Maximum: 12

This setting is only required if you start the process by using the "Start (Multi-Thread)" button.

Move the Trackbar to the number of threads you would like to use (this equals the number of files that will be processed simultaneously).

Be cautious when setting the number of parallel threads as you can run into the limitations of your system of RAM and CPU.

Start:

Processes each file within the list one by one, giving an indication of the status by updating items in the Listview.

Start (Multi-Thread):

Processes multiple files in parallel depending on the number of Threads selected.

Cancel:

Finishes the current file(s) and then stops processing.

Clear List:

Clears all items from the list.

Note that you can remove individual files by double-clicking them in the Listview while the process is not running.

A log file containing information about the session will be written to your Temp folder (%temp%)

2)  FBX Export Tool for Inventor

You find the button within the "Tools" tab in the ribbon under "Export Tools" in any opened .ipt or .iam file.

Make sure your design is saved beforehand.

The Output Path defaults to your active Working Folder in which the currently active design file lies. You can modify the Output directory by

clicking "..." and navigate to the desired folder.

Note that the export will create an "fbx" folder (if it doesn't exist yet) within the selected folder, where the generated file will be saved.

Use the Radio Button to choose between using the Default Export Settings or defining Custom Settings.
