Additive Assistant (FFF)

Additive Assistant (FFF)

Win64, English

Autodesk, Inc
A tool for Autodesk® Fusion 360® to analyze how suitable a part is for FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) 3D printing.

General Usage Instructions

Once the user has designed their part to be 3D printed, they can navigate to the Inspect group in the Design workspace and will find the Additive Assistant icon. The user can click on the icon which will bring up the setup window. The user will select the BRep body that they have created, select a material, input the size of the print area of their machine and press inspect.

The results tab will then replace the setup tab and give the user immediate feedback on each area of analysis using either a red, orange or green thumb. The user can then press the i icon next to each thumb, which will provide more information under the table and show on the part, where the issues are.

Once the user has understood the issues from the information provided, they can close the tool with the close button at the bottom of the window. They can then either make the required changes to the model, or move to the manufacturing workspace to print their parts.

Additional Information

Known Issues

Analysis is slow for large or complex models due to the tool being created for beginners to 3D printing designing their first parts which tend to be fairly simple.
