General Usage Instructions

The app will be loading in the DESIGN Workspace under SOLIDS -> CREATE dropdown list -> BOMETT 

Excel Templates in BOMETT: Possibilities and Examples of Applications

Excel templates offered by BOMETT give great flexibility in customizing the appearance and content of final documents. Below you will find detailed information about the available rules and examples of their applications: 

Rules that fill columns

(we insert them in the first line from which the list of elements begins):

{number}: Enters the serial number of the given line.

{name}: Inserts the name of the item.

{thumbnail}: Places a thumbnail of the component in a cell (size 450x250).

{part_number}: Enter the part number.

{instances}: Provides the number of times the component appears in the document.

{width}: Enter the width of the component.

{length}: Enter the length of the component.

{height}: Enters the height of the component.

{description}: Inserts a description of the component.

{area}: Enter the area of the component.

{mass}: Enters the weight of the component.

{density}: Enter the density of the component.

{material}: Enter the material of the component.

{color}: Enters the color of the component.

{=(F6*G6*E6)/1000}: Sample math rule. You can use any Excel formula, but it must be enclosed in braces, e.g. {=....}, to be copied to the entire column. 

Rules that fill single cells

{date}: Enter the date the document was generated.

{document_name}: Gets the name of the document from which the BOM was generated.

{current_user}: Enter the name of the user who creates the BOM.

{user_name}: Enter the name of the account from which the BOM was created.

{default_unit}: Enter the default units in which the document was created.

{number_of_items}: Enter the number of generated items. 

Example applications

Create a detailed component table: You can use the rules {name}, {part_number}, {quantity}, {width}, {length}, {height}, {material}, {color}etc. to create a table containing all the relevant information about the components.

Generate a component visualization: You can use a rule {thumbnail}to insert thumbnails of components next to their names. The size of the thumbnail will be automatically adjusted to the size of the cell.

You can also use rules {width}, {length}and {height}, which are automatically calculated for each component.

Adding meta information: You can use the rules {date}, {document_name}, {current_user}and {user_name}to add information about the date the document was generated, its name, author, and the account from which it was created.

Create custom calculations: You can use math rules to perform custom calculations on BOM data. For example, you can use the rule {=(F6*G6*E6)/1000}to calculate the volume of a component. 

Remember:

Rules must be enclosed in braces to be copied to the entire column.

You can combine different rules to create more complex templates.

Other formatting options are also available, such as applying font styles, background colors, and borders.

The Excel templates offered by BOMETT give you great freedom in customizing the appearance and content of your final documents. Use them to create templates perfectly tailored to your needs.

The script includes a set of default templates that can serve as inspiration or a starting point for creating your own templates. In addition to modifying existing templates, users can create their own templates from scratch. The script stores templates in a defined directory, which makes them easier to organize and find. Users can add, remove and browse templates in the catalog to find the one that best suits their needs. 

The script automatically detects and saves the last used template as the default one. This means that when you create a new document, this template will be automatically selected, which saves you time and makes your work easier.

Installation/Uninstallation

Install:

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from the Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin.

Uninstall:

You can unload the add-in without uninstalling it by clicking the "Stop" button when the add-in is selected in the list box on the "Add-Ins" tab of the "Scripts and Add-Ins" dialog.

Unchecking "Run on Startup" causes the add-in not to be loaded in future sessions of Autodesk® Fusion®.

To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button.

OR, you can uninstall it from 'Control Panel/Programs and Features' (Windows 10/11), just as you would uninstall any other application from your system.
