TL Polyline to Profile

TL Polyline to Profile

Win64, English

Todor Latev
Helps automate the conversion of a regular 2D polyline to an Autodesk® Civil 3D® profile and apply it to an existing Civil 3D alignment.

General Usage Instructions

Launch the program from ribbon/Add-In tab or using command TLP2P.

Pick a polyline object to be used as a profile and an alignment objects to generate the profile on. You can also specify station and elevation offsets or leave the default values as zero.

Version 2021.6.13.1 updates:

  • Vertical scale factor can now be specified to support polylines drawn at vertically exaggerated profile views
  • Station/elevation offsets as well as vertical scale factor values are now retained and preset as defaults at subsequent command invocations

The program will not ask the user for alignment/profile styles or label sets. The first available style definitions in the drawing will be used. These can be changed afterwards.

Additional Information

Known Issues

The generated profile is NOT dynamically linked to the original polyline object. Subsequent changes to the polyline object will not be reflected in the profile geometry.
Curved segments in the polyline are ignored - the program only uses the vertex data from the polyline object.
C3D profiles cannot have points with multiple elevations - if the polyline contains such points (ie vertical segments or going backwards) the conversion will fail.
