General Usage Instructions

Instructions for Adding Archibus by Eptura to an Autodesk Construction Cloud® Account:

Autodesk Construction Cloud/Autodesk® BIM 360® Admins can find the Archibus by Eptura ACC / BIM 360 Integration in Account Administration under the "Apps" tab. Select to add to your ACC / BIM 360 Account. Your Archibus by Eptura Integration is now active in ACC / BIM 360.

BIM Viewer Overview

Built on the integration with Autodesk Platform Services API, the BIM Viewer renders your Autodesk® Revit® models stored in Autodesk Construction Cloud or Autodesk Build® in Archibus. Right from Navigator, run the BIM Viewer task (ab-bim-viewer.axvw) to review, edit, highlight, and locate the assets in your BIM model.

The BIM Viewer is offered in both SaaS and non-SaaS deployments:

  • The BIM Viewer task is available if you purchase the Archibus Digital Twins license. The Archibus Digital Twins license enables the Catalog BIM Models and BIM Viewer views; there is no separate "BIM Viewer license."
  • For information on Autodesk Platform Services (also known as "APS" ), see https://aps.autodesk.com/.
  • To review demonstration BIM models that contain cataloged assets stored in the Equipment table, work with building NB in the HQ sample project. Note, that not all equipment in the NB model is registered in the Equipment table. For reviewing rooms, you may wish to work with the MC10 model, as it loads more quickly than NB.
  • Before visualizing a model in the Archibus BIM Viewer or in any of the Technologies /Innovative Solutions/Forge Integration example views, you must enable hardware acceleration for your web browser; this improves the speed at which models load. In some organizations, your IT department might manage this setting for you; if you cannot enable it yourself, contact your IT department.

BIM Viewer Authentication Instructions

Prerequisites

  • Licenses
    • Archibus License
    • Your site has an Autodesk Construction Cloud or Autodesk BIM 360 subscription and Archibus users have their own accounts.
  • Contact Eptura Customer Support to subscribe to the Archibus BIM Viewer using your company's own Autodesk BIM 360 Docs or Autodesk Construction Cloud - Autodesk Docs repository.
  • Grant the Archibus Forge application the right to access your company's Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360 APIs.  See Scenario 1: https://forge.autodesk.com/en/docs/bim360/v1/tutorials/getting-started/manage-access-to-docs/

Sign-in Procedure

  • An Archibus System Administrator runs the "System / CAD and BIM Manager / Configure Application Parameters for CAD and BIM" task and sets the "BIMForge-Autodesk-AuthenticationMethod" application parameter to 2 (each Archibus user has its own Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM360 account).
  • With this setting, users follow this sequence to sign in:
    • In Archibus, search for and load the BIM Viewer, and select the "Sign into Autodesk" button.
    • Enter your Autodesk credentials and allow authorization.
    • You receive the successful authentication message. As noted in the message, you must reload the BIM Viewer or Catalog BIM Models task.
    • Reload the Forge view (BIM Viewer or Catalog BIM Models task). You now have access to the same set of models that you can view in Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360.
