comsSaveIt!
Beschreibung
Ever happened you skipped a Save dialog and pressed a No instead of Yes?
comsSaveIt! will monitor your savings and closings, if you close a modified drawing without saving it, comsSaveIt! will save it anyway in a local folder you specified. If you later realize that you skipped a file saving, you can recover it from the local folder and restore it without any loss of time!
At the price of a local file saving, you'll get the insurance to be able to recover discarded work.
Also, comsSaveIt! will give you the opportunity to keep and maintain a number of Autodesk® AutoCAD® autosaved files (.sv$). Not only the autosaved files will be preserved and not erased too soon by AutoCAD, but you may decide how many autosave files to preserve so that they can form a sort of history of your DWG changes.
For example, you may set the standard autosave feature at a 20 minutes interval and set comsSaveIt! to preserve the last 10 .sv$ files. This way you can go back as far as 200 minutes and easily recover discarded changes from your history files.
To help navigate your history files, a date-time suffix will be appended to .sv$ file names.
Both functions are optimized, meaning the application will not save unchanged files, in order to not perform unnecessary saves.
Older files will be automatically erased, preventing the local folder to be filled with hundreds of .sv$ files.
Beware!
comsSaveIt! It is NOT a recovery tool for damaged files, NOR a file recovery tool for lost files due to application crashes, system crashes or hardware failures.
Beware #2!
This is the final release. There won't be any update for 2023.
Thank you for all your support during the past years!
NEW TO RELEASE 2.0!
Now comsSaveIt! integrates an automated cleaning function for the local temporary folder.
We usually suggest our customers to set AutoCAD to point all the temporary files and folders to a single local temporary folder. This usually leads to optimal performances since all temporary files will use the fast local drive instead of slower network volumes, also preventing the pollution of the network folders with backup files, plot logs, and other unwanted stuff.
This way your local temporary folder will quickly be filled with hundreds of files, most of them useless after a few days, since we have seen very few designers trying to recover something from files older than a few days.
So it'd be useful to set up a system to automatically clean those old files. In the past, we offered our customers free command-line tools, able to erase files older than a predefined number of days, usually a couple of weeks.
This command had to be manually set in a batch .cmd file and programmed with task manager to run once a day.
Now, comsSaveIt! incorporates this function. If properly activated and set, the first time you run AutoCAD in your workday, comsSaveIt! will clean the local temporary folder from files older than the predefined threshold. See below for detailed information.
Also can't wait for Autocad 2022. Hard to work without this tool :(
good day
very good program, I have been using it for several years now.
when will there be a version for Autocad 2022?
Thank you for your support! 2022 version has been submitted to Autodesk, should be a matter of hours. Unfortunately I must say this will likely be the final version... sorry, no 2023 version...
I love this product. Paid for itself within an hour of installation in design department!!
Now, Do we have a versaion for ACAD 2020 yet?
Thanks team.
Michael
Hi Michael, thank you for your interest. We are almost there... just doing last tests and amending the documentation. This version will see also a small improvement... ;-)
Thank you for the 2020 version. I LOVE it even more now with the cleaning feature. Now I don't need my monthly reminder to delete old files. :-) Nice work my friend. Be well Michael
Vey usefull app. May save a lot of time and aggrivation
Does exactly what AutoCAD SHOULD do. Anyone with Autosave experience knows why you need this program. Very good service, as well.
AutoCAD 2016 not supported
True, not YET supported, we are required to make extensive tests before releasing. But version compatibility is clearly stated. This is not a valid reason for a low feedback.
Does a great job
This app save me lots of time when I accidentally close my drawing without save. The support service is excellent!
